October 11th, 2023

The 2023 EFPT Finals in Brouwersdam are ON! The green light was given to all the riders and crew 72 hours ago who have hastily travelled up to the freestyle windsurfing mecca in the Netherlands. Known to have put forth countless champions, the Zeil- and Surfcentrum in Brouwersdam is now hosting the deciding event for the 2023 European Freestyle title in both the men and the women. With a promising forecast and 40 riders from all over Europe registered, the event is about to start right now! Follow the livestream and scoring on freestyleprotour.com or check out the stream below:

The event will see some riders get a chance at claiming the 2023 title. Currently in best position for it are Lennart Neubauer (Starboard/Severne/Maui Ultra Fins) and Maaike Huvermann (Severne/Maui Ultra Fins). However, there are still a couple of riders in contention. Most notably Steven Van Broeckhoven (Starboard/Gunsails) who could just add a 6th European title to his name. Lisa Kloster (MB-Boards/Sailloft) has also been improving and could form a challenge to Huvermann’s dominance in the past years.

A battle of the generations. The moment Lennart Neubauer learned about his first ever event win against established tour veteran Steven Van Broeckhoven

The finals are also fully stacked with other athletes. Brouwersdam will see the return of household names like Nick van Ingen (Duotone), Arriane Aukes (Duotone/Maui Ultra Fins) and Julian Wiemar (Severne/Starboard), while also introducing some fresh blood into the mix. With a strong youth contingent, expect Julian Koldeweid (Starboard/Severne) and Leander Halm (Starboard/Severne) to give us a glimpse at the future generation of freestyle. All flavours of Brouwersdam riders will be represented at this event, with Tigo Kort (NeilPryde/JP), Bodhi Kempen (Severne) and Tim Gerdes (Severne) leading the winds of change, as the likes of Yentel Caers (NeilPryde/JP) and Felix Volkhardt (Severne) have graduated from this spot already.

Furthermore prominently featured on the lineup are the German Freestyle Battles riders. Sebastian Gux (GA-Sails/Tabou/Maui Ultra Fins), Magnus Wessel (Maui Ultra Fins), Foivos Tsoupras (Duotone/Maui Ultra Fins) and Niclas Nebelung (Duotone/Maui Ultra Fins) have all made the trip down to Brouwersdam.. Having shown great promise this year in the GFB events, their competitive experience will now be put to the test on the international arena.
