The season will be opened once again in the end of April at the famous Surf Worldcup in Neusiedl am See with a € 10.000,- freestyle event. The final agreement is still to be made and negotiations are ongoing with the organiser who is very keen to bring back Europes finest to this freestyle hotspot in Austria, after running a tow-in only show in 2019.
After a month break, next up will be the EFPT Spiaggia Lunga, Vieste in Italy from the 3rd – 6th of June. After an extremly well organized event in 2019 at the beautiful shores of the region Puglia, we are excited to see where the local team will take it this year. Another € 10.000,- event to start off the busy June of 2020.
The third stop is going to be the EFPT Las Dunas in Costa Brava – organised by Fase Wind from the 16th – 21st of June.
The spot delivered some extreme windsurfing conditions in 2019 and took the riders to their limits, when they were competing on their smallest sails in wind gusting up to 50 knots. Just as the previous year, Costa Brava will host the EFPT pros and junior divisions. With € 15.000,- prize-money up for grabs and a flawless organisation, this event promises to be one of our highlights this year.
Kick off of the Canaries tour this year will be the EFPT event at Costa Teguise, Lanzarote. With more thn 90% chance for wind and waves, this tour-stop is one of the riders favorites. We are looking forward to return to the shores of Costa Teguise for the 6th time and to also see an official EFPT juniors competition alongside the pro division from the 24th – 27th of June.
Straight afterwards, crew and riders will travel onwards to the next island, where the organisation team around EFPT team member Davide Zilli, steps it up for this year and upgraded the 2018 one star to a three star event in 2020. Once again the EFPT juniors will get the chance to compete alongside the pro fleet in the third junior event of the season from the 29th of June through the 2nd of July.
After a small break in July, the first ever EFPT event in Egypt will be staged in El Gouna at the Elements Watersport Station from the 11th – 15th August for the pro men fleet. Apart the € 5.000,- of prize-money, all the riders will be spoiled with free accommodation and free food in the hotel cooperating with the center. El Gouna, which is known to be the ‚Venice of the Orient‘ is located about 30 km South of Hurghada and delivers great conditions for windsurfing throughout the whole year.
We will break up the freestyle only competitions with a tow-in show at the Vanora Engadinwind by Dakine at lake Silvaplana, Switzerland. After two amazing tow-in only competition in 2018 and 2019, the EFPT riders will again be invited to throw their best tricks in front of the most stunning backdrops of mountains higher than 3.000 meteres in the turquoise water of this Swiss lake.
In early September, Denmark will be the place for Europes freestyle elite, with a three star event being incorporated into the popular ‚Waterz‘ Festival in Hvide Sande (editors note: event still on TBC). The shores of the country that are already well known due to national and international wave competitions, will become the playground for some of the best freestylers worldwide.
The final international event of the year and the big EFPT final shall be held at the DAM-X in Brouwersdam, Holland. During event period of the 7th – 11th of October, the Zeil- and Surfcentrum Brouwersdam will be the location where the 2020 EFPT champion will be crowned alongside the juniors champions. We hope to be able to finish what promises to be an amazing season, at this renowned event.
