The third day of the EFPT Sardinia finished without a further result. However, despite a very light forecast, the conditions around lunchtime looked sufficient to at least try starting the next heat of the single elimination. Adam Sims (Patrik/Sailloft) and Rossel Bertoldo (RRD/RRD) were giving it a go on big equipment in the onshore wind, that is very unsual here at the Windsurf Club Porto Liscia. Since the riders could go for some tricks, race director Tom Hartmann decided to go into sequence. With an extended heat time of 12 minutes, the sailors should have enough possibilities to land at least the three moves counting on each tack.
Unfortunately, when the flag went up for the heat of Loick Spicher (RRD/RRD) against Riccardo Marca (North/Fanatic) and Julian Wiemar (Starboard/Severne) against Giovanni Passani, the wind had dropped off to an extend that wouldn’t make a fair race possible.
The riders were kept on stand-by for the remaining day, but the competition had to be called off eventually. For now, the best chance to finish the elimination will be the forecasted easterly wind on Sunday. In this case the competition site will be moved to Marina Maria, a spot located closer to Olbia, where this wind-direction works best. We are very happy about the chance to use all means necessary to finish the single and get a good result.
