Freestyle Action Roundup of the Month – January

February 20th, 2022

The new year started with a bang! Riders all around Europe have been hitting the water and busting out some freestyle moves. And although some have been taking Dry January a bit too literally (probably due to the temperatures), there are still some videos coming out! As always in the monthly Freestyle Action Roundup we will take a look at the best clips released this month. Apart from that, we will also add a few productions of our own, as we look back at our events in 2021. Strap in and let’s go!

First up, let’s visit Tarifa. It seems like most freestylers fancied spending their winter down there. One of them was Balz Muller (Severne) who made use of the lighter wind conditions on the foilstyle as well:

Who would have thought we would be seeing shifties on the foil? Balz was joined by Steven van Broeckhoven (Starboard/Gun Sails) who is also working on his foilstyle skills.

Another Belgian visiting Tarifa was Yentel Caers (JP/NeilPryde). Making use of the nuclear wind that Tarifa is known for, he shows off the best our sport has on offer. He certainly looks hungry to take back the titles he lost to Amado Vrieswijk in 2021.

Shifty Shaka 360’s? Ankle dry Double Air Culo’s? Are you kidding? We are excited to see what Yentel has on offer in the upcoming Freestyle Pro Tour season…

A lot of young riders are surely being inspired by the previous clip, but you can’t get to that level without your fair share of crashes. Tijmen Meijer shows us just that dedication:

Brouwersdam seems to be firing this season, we are excited to be back there for competition later this year!

Another location we are hopefully visiting is Italy. Mathias Genkel went ahead and traveled through, visiting Lake Garda and Sardinia. Enjoy his action below:

January was a month of looking back to 2021. As such, the Freestyle Pro Tour is releasing event recaps from all of our events in 2022. Check them out:

The Geneva recap is still coming, stay tuned for that!

That’s it for January, we hope you are saturated with action! If you know of any sick freestyle clips that should be featured in the February edition, feel free to send them to us.
